The future of the X-men franchise is unclear.

Since Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence contracts are done, and since the last X-men: Apocalypse did not do as well as Days of the Future Past at the box office now it is unclear how the franchise is going to proceed.
If the studio is going to re-sign all their leads for a lot of money and will make another X-men, because the story is not finished. Or they are going to reboot it again with a different cast.
The first way is easier. They just need to spend much more money for contracts and make a movie that might do poorly as Apocalypse did. So the profit will be unsatisfying for such a huge studio like Fox.
The second way is very risky. The should re-cast everybody, Wolverine included. To go with total unknowns at some point and start fresh. But this is not going to happen, at least in 7 years, because the studio will choose the first way over second and after Logan(2017) they will need time to create a new generation of X-men movies, giving the massive audience time to rethink the franchise and not to confuse two different generations.

It is still not clear how Deadpool will get involved with the X-men. Maybe he will become a new lead for those movies. Right now it is very interesting to see, how they are going to handle it again.

Do they need to reboot it again? Yes, I think they do, because if Logan is really Hugh Jackman's last appearance as The Wolverine, than it will be so good to restart it from that point. It will be so poetic, that it started with Charles Xavier(Patrick Steward) and Logan(Jackman) and it will end with them. It vote for that. Logan as the last movie in 17 years old franchise.
And soon as they made Deadpool, they used a new cast(nobody was in previous X-men movies, except Reynolds, but Origins does not count I think)it would be a good place to start for them.
