Arnold Schwarzenegger Probably Won't Appear in a New "Predator" Movie.

Recently Boyd Holbrook spoke to We Got This Covered and told that the new Shane Black "Predator" will be something brand new, not a sequel, so it is not likely, that some familiar faces would appear. That is what he told:
“I’m currently working on Predator. It’s not a sequel; Shane Black has made something totally new, somehow keeping within the realm of Predator [while also being] absolutely new in terms of the story that we’re talking about today, and rooted in something real. It’s real fresh. I don’t think you’re going to see [Arnold] Schwarzenegger. It would kind of make it a gimmick. It’s horror, science-fiction and a western.”
He also mentioned about western vibe to a new "Predator", which has never been done before. Predator movies took place everywhere but in the wild west, and this realism Boyd is talking about makes me even more excited and calm about it. Also because Shane Black is doing it. He will succeed, he knows this universe and he is a very talented writer and director, so after this interview, everything became even more obvious that this movie is in good hands.

I am more interested in seeing new Predator being more real, horrifying and dark. I think this movie wouldn't need a cameo, maybe a mention, if it will still be in the same universe of course. It is possible, that this movie will reboot the franchise, which I think will be a mistake. It won't be right to throw away everything, what have been done in this universe.

The Raid (2011) is going to be Remade by Joe Carnahan and Frank Grillo

Indonesian action series "The Raid" will be remade by Joe Carnahan and Frank Grillo. The Raid (2011) was very successful as it became one of the most underrated action movies of all time, I think it deserves so much more recognition than it had. Then there was a sequel, which came out in 2014 and was different, but great as well, so these two movies are exceptional, look them up, they deserve to be watched.

Joe Carnahan did assure that he has something really special to start with and no one will be disappointed. They will try to reimagine the same plot and make the movie he is a huge fan of.

I don't know what exactly they came up with to remake it, but it is obvious that this property is very hot, and this movie would have been made even if the plot is bad. I am a Frank Grillo fan. I think he always did a great job, so I suppose he will be a great star in this new film.

So who knows, maybe this remake will be huge, but now we have only promises with no evidence that this new "Raid" film will be at least respectful to the original. I love when fans who are also filmmakers are making a movie they are big fans of, and in this case, it gives hope, that we won't be disappointed indeed.

Mel Gibson Might Direct the Next Suicide Squad Film.

Since Mel Gibson is no longer rogue in Hollywood, he gets an offer after an offer to play or direct something. Of cause it is understandable, he just made Hacksaw Ridge, for which he is nominated for Best Director. He always made almost perfect movies, he is a very talented artist, no matter what person he is. So we might get used to Mel Gibson again because he is a very popular director right now. That is why Warner Brothers consider him for a new Suicide Squad movie. He is popular, and they contacted him, saying that if he wants it, then he would get it.

This is very funny, though, because Gibson is a great artist, but in this case, he won't be a proper choice to do it. Bringing him on board might also mean that he can be fired like many other great directors, who disagreed with WB's interference into director's business. In that case, if they will step aside this time and let one director do his thing, letting him decide the final cut, then maybe Gibson will fit. But right now, I just can't figure it out, how a person, who said that the last two DC movies were (a quote) "piece of shit" can get a job in this company.

Variety reports that the studio is also eyeing Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) and Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies). Well, sometimes big studios might add some very popular names into their projects for "in talks to be involved in" them just to promote the movie. I think that the attachment of Mel Gibson is just for this purpose - promoting Suicide Squad sequel.

Moonlight (2016) movie review. The main competitor of La La Land at the Oscars.

Moonlight is a movie about a timeless story of human self-discovery and connection, Moonlight chronicles the life of a young black man from childhood to adulthood as he struggles to find his place in the world while growing up in a rough neighborhood of Miami.

Barry Jenkins, who directed and wore the script did so well, that this movie is not just nominated for an Oscar in Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay categories, but in Best Picture, which is a giant success for a filmmaker. This movie is relevant, important for minorities, but also masterfully made. I know a lot of people, who blindly love it, saying how great the cinematography is or directing. And this movie is an art in every way. It entertains the audience a little bit differently. Not by the action or plot twists, but with beautifully directed sequences. Some parts of this movie were really great.

But for me, as a fan, who loves this types of movies this one somehow didn't work. I love the first act with Mahershala Ali, but the rest of it was too boring, despite great filmmaking. The actor, who played an adult version of Chiron - the main character was great. It was a hard task to connect these three different actors, so the audience wouldn't notice the difference as Chiron was growing up.

I know that this movie worked for a lot of people. And I completely understand why. But I think that this movie is too artistic. I think that the thought behind it is too complicated to tell in that environment. The scenes were a little longer sometimes than I thought they needed to be and the overall feel after watching wasn't satisfying. It didn't leave me liking it, as an Oscar contender should. One thing I really disliked was that sudden disappearance of Mahershala Ali's character. By the plot, he had to be gone, but I didn't even imagine, that he would not appear at all later. Naomi Harris was great, she did a very good job, she is a top actress, who has a chance of winning, but there is almost no chance.

The message is quite relevant. This movie hit the weak spot so hard, that it includes three or even more nowadays hot issues. This movie is not for everyone, not for me definitely, but it is some exceptional filmmaking, I will not be surprised if it wins the Best Picture. Hopefully, Barry Jenkins will win something out of his nominations.

New "Team Thor" Short Video.

The second promotional video called "Team Thor" is released, showing more Darell and Thor, and overall life of an Asgardian on Earth. This piece is so funny and original that I think one would have thought of doing something like that. Chris Hemsworth is very funny playing Thor in those videos.
These videos are a part of marketing campaign for Thor: Ragnarok, which hits theaters in November. Also, they show what Thor was up to during events of Civil War. This second video is a part of a blue ray edition for Doctor Strange.

Laurence Fishburne Won't Appear as Perry White in Justice League.

Laurence Fishburne, who portrayed Perry White has previously appeared in Snyder’s Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as the Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Planet, but now he gave an interview to LA Times, in which he explained why he won't appear in Justice League:
They asked me to come for a day, but I couldn’t work it out, schedule-wise. And really, what do you need the newspaperman in “Justice League” for? You want to see the Flash. You want to see Aquaman. You want to see Wonder Woman. You want to see the Lantern.
His statement also contains some geeky talk about Marvel and DC:
We’ve been waiting 35 years for these [characters] to show up on the screen. What were they doing over there? Marvel has been kicking their ass. This is the comic-book geek in me, who has a collection of comic books. I’ve been waiting to see these people on-screen forever.
Despite the controversy, Fishburne doesn't blame Zack Snyder and OK with "Martha" scene:
Look, I love what Zack Snyder does. Jesse Eisenberg, this little nebbishy guy, as Lex Luthor? For me, that’s a genius move. And the whole thing with Martha Kent and Martha Wayne? I don’t know, man, I must be sentimental but that’s some heartwarming [stuff] to me. So I don’t get it.
After all, what can the person who has a contract with DC say about his last movie? He probably was politically incorrect and rough talking about Marvel and DC's competition, but overall he is right, that Marvel is more successful nowadays. DC has no plan, only relying on a strong fanbase and super popular characters, while Marvel built their universe introducing every new character one by one in their standalones. So the difference is clear, and don't be mad at Laurence Fishburne, he also said that Batman vs Superman is a genius movie.

Actually, my theatrical impression of this movie is much worse than the impression I had, watching it at home in extended edition. After third viewing, now I think of this movie as of good and solid instead of garbage.

Robert Downey Jr. Teams Up With Richard Linklater to for Podcast Adaptation.

One of the biggest movie stars right now Robert Downey Jr. will star in an untitled feature with "Boyhood" Richard Linklater directing. This new movie will be based on the episode “Man of the People” from Gimlet Media’s Reply All podcast, which aired on January 19, 2017. This podcast episode, which tells the true story of charlatan Dr. John Brinkley who scams his way to fame and fortune using fake medicine, populism, and the newest technology of the time: radio. As Brinkley’s fame grows, he gets the attention of Dr. Morris Fishbein, editor of the AMA who begins a decade-long quest to take him down.

Robert Downey Jr. has been doing side projects like "The Judge" and "Due Date", so this news doesn't surprise, that he is up to a new non-Marvel movie. Some might say that his side projects were disappointing since he joined MCU, except the first Sherlock Holmes, but I think he did great in most of them. He also appeared in Jon Favreau's "Chef" in a smaller role.

The point is, that Robert Downey Jr. despite the quality of the film is always great in his movies no matter what piece of crap they are. And hearing that he is teaming up with such a great director as Richard Linklater is very promising, that this new movie will be at least good.

Weekend Box Office Report ( 02/10 - 02/12 2017)

This weekend three new big hits opened in theaters. One big of another they crushed box office each for itself grossing acceptable and even pleasant numbers on their opening weekend. "The LEGO Batman Movie" becomes the biggest hit this weekend grossing $ 55,6M and winning wit ha gap of $ 8,8M over "Fifty Shades Darker" - another hit which is also the biggest bummer of those three. New "Fifty Shades" movie turned out to be worse than anticipated and even made people laugh after pretty serious scenes. There are huge problems with this movie, but it did great at the box office grossing $ 46,8M. It made double in the rest of the world making $ 147M worldwide, which is three times more of its budget. The third spot is taken by "John Wick: Chapter Two" - an R-rated action thriller with $ 30M. These numbers are incredible for all three movies. This weekend in February is the brightest - such a competition. The fourth spot is for "Split" with solid $ 9,3M. And the fifth is taken by "Hidden Figures" with $ 8M.

1."The LEGO Batman Movie" - $ 55,6M ($ 55,6M domestic total; $ 92,6M total)
2."Fifty Shades Darker" - $ 46,8M ($ 46,8M domestic total; $ 147M total)
3."John Wick: Chapter Two" - $ 30M ($ 30M domestic total; $ 40,6 total)
4."Split" - $ 9,3M ($ 112,3 domestic total; $ 169,3 total)
5."Hidden Figures" - $8M ($ 131,5 domestic total; $ 144M total)

The Founder. Movie Review. Ray Kroc's Way to the Top With Persistence.

The movie is about a fifty-year-old businessman-loser who managed to make McDonald's the most popular and profitable restaurant in history. Ray Kroc, played by Michael Keaton, was an ordinary businessman who sold mixers. His life was a failure. He worked hard, but couldn't win. Persistence was always his slogan in life and he was always trying to find his luck. And one day he met McDonald brothers: Dick and Mac, who showed him an incredible system how to make a burger just in thirty seconds. It stroke Ray and he decided to help the McDonald brothers to franchise this idea in many other cities.

This biopic is a well-made movie having some little pacing issues, but at the same time having this genius Michael Keaton, who does his best, as I suppose he did, playing Ray Kroc. This story is about one man's struggle. He has been a loser all his life, but now he has this opportunity, which he took, and finally won.

Everyone knows that he is a founder. But only a few knows whom McDonald brothers really were. They were just as hard working as Ray, but they were no businessmen, good managers, maybe, but they had no killer instinct as Ray had, and he played on that. This is history, that Ray Kroc finally bought the company from brothers and made his own empire. So this movie might make Michael Keaton's character a little unsympathising, but he is just a man who did, what everyone would have done in his place - history for himself. That is how a loser became a king.

The movie itself shows Ray Kroc's way to the top. Bad or good this movie is, it is not really important. The story delivered well, the script is nice after all. I wouldn't call this movie ordinary, but, as a whole, it is above average in quality. It inspires and delivers the story of McDonald's and Ray Kroc well.

‘The Batman’ Hires ‘War for the Planet of the Apes’ Director Matt Reeves

New Batman movie, which has some controversy around it now has the long awaited director, who appeared to be Matt Reeves. The second "Apes" movie was great and a new movie, "War for the Planet of the Apes", is coming out this summer. So "The Batman" is in good hands. That is the best piece of news, which DC had in months, but it doesn't fix the negative side of things, for example, Ben Affleck stepping down from directing.
It is important to understand if Reeves knows how to direct the Batman movie right. His influence on the script is also will affect the further changes. God forbid if Reeves and Affleck will have some creative differences. In that case, one of them goes away and it would be another scandal.

Coen Brothers to Polish Script for "Scarface".

A remake of a 1983 Brian De Palma classic Scarface is in works, and Variety reports, that Joel and Ethan Coen are working on the script for Universal Pictures. Antoine Fuqua was attached as the director, but, unfortunately, left the project to make a new Equalizer movie with Denzel Washington. I think that this loss is a big hit for the remake because Antoine Fuqua would have been perfect for directing Scarface, which will star Diego Luna, my favorite Captian Andor. I remember Fuqua talking so passionate about this new movie, about the main character and how it can be relevant nowadays, and so much more. And it got me so excited and interested, that now I am frustrated about him going away. I hope that there will be a good director to do it because I love original Scarface. It is a genius movie, so I want the remake to be at least enjoyable. I have faith in Diego Luna's talent as the performer. It wouldn't be appropriate if his name of the main character would be Tony Montana again because in the new script he is Mexican and I suggest the scribes wouldn't want to confuse people. I don't know. If his name is Tony Montana I will be absolutely fine.  And I am very happy, that talents like Coen brothers are working to make this movie. I surely hope, that no one wants to screw this movie up.

Batman script is completely rewritten from scratch.

According to Forbes:
How extensive the process will be — I’m hearing anything from “major rewrites” to “a completely new script,” including starting from scratch on the story if that’s what it takes — is unclear, not just to us but probably to those involved as well, since the new filmmaker might look at the story and script and decide there’s plenty to salvage that appeals to them. Once the director is in place, more will become clear, but for now Warner Bros. is suffering far more negative perceptions than they need to, simply because of the attempt to slow and control the spread of information.
Is that the last nail in the coffin of a new Batman project? Probably, that this new script is the one rewritten by Oscar-winning Argo and Justice League scribe Chris Terrio, so maybe possibly The Batman isn’t being thrown out entirely after all. I am not pessimistic to think, that Ben Affleck will not star as Batman anymore, but I think, that if this kind of losses would happen in the future, then maybe he will be even sadder and decide to leave everything behind.
The report doesn't really explain if there is a problem at all. Everyone can decide for themselves, what to believe in. It is so misty to say for sure. Now it is getting worse, but who knows how it will end up being.

"John Wick: Chapter 2" is as Good as Its Predecessor. Movie Review.

Keanu Reeves is back playing John Wick in the second chapter, all his stunts, beautiful choreography and headshots are back, his bodywork was amazing in the firs movie, so it remains to be fantastic in the second movie. John Wick is not just a film, which shows great action, but smart world building with a lot of rules and subtleties, so it doesn't look like a stupid all time action, but more like a smart action film, which respects viewer's interest in details and grace. Keanu Reeves is an exceptional person, he is hardworking and very talented. I can imagine the way it was, preparing for this movie - hard all day long training to level the difficulty of all stunts and action pieces, set for this movie to work the way it does. I love incredible action, it makes me feel good. And I really appreciate the effort, made by these stuntmen and stunt coordinators.

The plot is the weakest part, but it shouldn't bother too much. After all, John Wick is a hitman, sometimes these people can't forgive and forget. After watching Chapter 2, I now think that personal vendetta is some part of these rules of the underground hitman world - this is the best explanation of why John Wick just can't leave it alone. By the way, the plot is good enough to explain everything properly. Wick doesn't have a choice, so he is back again. Knowing Wick's character, he would be back from retiring for much less, than it was in the movie.

After killing Vigo (the villain in chapter 1) John Wick decided to get his car back, so he comes to Vigo's cousin (or so), who owns the taxi business as a cover for mob activity. At the main garage, where Wick's car is held, as well as the mob operation goes, the second chapter begins with a lot of action. The brutality of this movie is on the high level. There is a lot of blood and violence.

It is really hard to sympathize with the main character when he kills people in cold blood left and right. But no one said that you should sympathize with any of these killers. This movie is just about the world being against one man, John Wick so he would kick its ass.

That is just me, but I felt a little tired of boring kills after a good portion of them. However, this movie expanded the universe of John Wick so good, that a lot of new cool equal in skill to John characters appeared. And they are really tough. John, who is known to kill weak and easy targets now has to go up against real power as well.

This movie is rich for talents. It has Keanu Reeves, Lawrence Fishburn, John Leguizamo, Ian McShane and Rubi Roze. This cast is just brought for one-liners and easy dialog. And it is not really a negative, but the movie has very poor dialogs, it is just the way it is. But overall, this movie is enjoyable. If you saw and liked the first chapter, you will like this one as well. The whole time John Wick just kills people, running with a gun in so many different places. This movie expanded the universe, set a tone for maybe a decade of new action films and made Keanu Reeves an action star again.

"The LEGO Ninjago Movie" trailer.

From Warner Brothers Pictures, from people who gave us "The LEGO Movie" and "The LEGO Batman Movie" comes "The LEGO Ninjago Movie". This series of movies are so successful critically and in the box office, that we might see another huge universe about LEGO toys pretty soon

In this case "The LEGO Ninjago Movie" was in production before LEGO Batman's triumph, so finally, this studio has a plan, and not setting new movies just when the current one is successful. That being said, suddenly this franchise of LEGO toys make me excited. Especially after this trailer being good, carrying that amount of fun, which should create enough amount of buzz. And bring people, who are not fans of LEGO toys and Ninjago in particular, in.

So, that was (not a surprise) a good trailer, with a lot of jokes, just as all LEGO movies did earlier - entertain with the unique tone for everyone. I don't have any knowledge about Ninjago, and this property is a complete mystery to me, but I surely believe that WB Animated Division will deliver the same quality as they did before.

Bad Boys 3 is delayed again and Bad Boys 4 falls off the schedule.

A new Bad Boys movie, which was supposed to come out in January of 2018 now will hit theaters 10 months later, in November. At the same time, Bad Boys 4 is no longer scheduled for a release. It has been more than a decade since Will Smith and Martin Lawrence portrayed their characters for the last time. There is still hope that this franchise will not break down and continue to be The Bad Boys.
It was delayed for a couple of times already. The reason is unknown, but I think that it happened because of actors' schedules being confronted with each other. That happens. Or maybe the script isn't there. I hope it is for good, as long as there are filmmakers ready to bring us their best.

New Great John Wick: Chapter 2 Poster.

We have to wait less than a week before a new John Wick movie, which has astronomically great reviews, and there is a new cool poster. It is just awesome, can't wait to watch the movie myself. The critic rating is on 95%, so does that mean that this is "the sequel is better than the original" type situation? I hope so, and that will be a blast to view it in the movie theater this Thursday evening.

Matthew McConaughey to Star in Harmony Korine’s ‘The Beach Bum’

Matthew McConaughey will star in a comedy from "Spring Breakers's" director Harmony Korine. Back in a day, when McConaughey was a romantic lead, he hadn't been taken seriously, so it is some kind of a return to the time, before he became an Oscar winning actor. That doesn't mean that he will not give a great performance, or the movie will be bad. According to the Variety:
“‘The Beach Bum’ follows the hilarious misadventures of Moondog, a rebellious and lovable rogue who lives life large.”“In ‘The Beach Bum,’ Harmony has crafted the perfect movie for our dark and serious time — a refreshingly original, irreverent, and hilarious stoner comedy that only he could create.”\
So the movie promises to be good. And I would watch anything with McConaughey in it, especially if it's a well made movie.
And if he will continue to pull of his great performances, as he did for last seven years, then we will definitely enjoy it.

Denzel Washington's third time directing a movie. Fences (2016) review.

Fences starring Denzel Washington and Viola Davis, directed by Denzel Washington, based on a play, about an ex-convict baseball player, who works as a garbageman and must maintain his family. He has got a tough life. This movie shows his relations with his sons, wife, friends and brother. It is a simple film, about life, relationships between people; it is about their lifetime.

This movie is all about dialogs. It is filled with long scenes of Denzel's character Troy telling some story about his past or some scenes of dialogs with his wife or sons. This movie is all about acting. I think that every performer in this film did a great job, I never felt, that someones acting was out of place or bad.

The most difficult thing about this movie is, that I couldn't sometimes understand the accent, but it is OK. Everyone in the movie does a fantastic job of bringing this hard to make movie to life, which some will find boring, but the director did everything to make it as entertaining as it could have been. And I was into it, I didn't feel bored; sometimes this movie really hooks you by its depth and thought.
I think, that this film deserves an Oscar nomination, and it is a very complex motion picture to make. It felt like a good story, successfully transferred to the big screen.

There were some flaws, but they are not important in this case, because it is not an easy task to make a movie based on a play. I just want to say, that this is pure art, created by two wonderful actors.

New Tomb Raider images reveal Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft.

Warner Brothers started shooting their reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise with a new lead Alicia Vikander, who recently won an Oscar for Tom Hooper's 'The Danish Girl'. On first images from the set, we can see Vikander already in action, the production is already underway on full and hopefully a nice cast, not only including Vikander, but Walton Goggins, Daniel Wu and Dominic West with the director Roar Uthaug will bring quality to the movie. This video game adaptation will hit theaters on Match 16, 2018.

M. Night Shyamalan teases Split 2.

M. Night Shyamalan tweeted out about some details about a new script he is working on. This tweet makes total sense, if you have seen Split.

Sequel to the "World War Z" is delayed.

World War Z 2, starring Brad Pitt is a sequel to the 2013's hit, grossing $ 540M globally, so it is no surprise, that we have got it. Variety reports, that this movie was supposed to come out on June 9, 2017, but now shifted to a different release date, which is not provided. The extra time will help to develop the script, and the new release date is sometime in 2018 or 2019. That might whether hurt the movie or make it better. The long delay might damage the popularity of this property, but a more advanced script can bring a lot more quality to the movie.
I think that this is a good move, so Brad Pitt would bring David Fincher to direct. The first movie was so solid and good, that it was a big surprise, when it opened. And I hope, that another two or more years of anticipation will pay off.

New Life 2017 trailer has a nice vibe to it.

A new Life trailer with Ryan Reynolds, Jake Gyllenhaal and Rebecca Ferguson dropped online.
Movie synopsis is:
Six astronauts aboard the space station study a sample collected from Mars that could provide evidence for extraterrestrial life on the Red Planet. The crew determines that the sample contains a large, single-celled organism - the first example of life beyond Earth. But..things aren't always what they seem. As the crew begins to conduct research, and their methods end up having unintended consequences, the life form proves more intelligent than anyone ever expected.
The previous trailer set a storyline of an astronaut group, which finds life on Mars. It was more like a combination of Alien (1979) and Gravity (2013), with so great action and horror elements.

The second trailer teases us with more lighter tone, which reminds me of 'Guardians of the Galaxy' and the same 'Alien', when we see, how the crew teams up to destroy the life organism in order not to let it reach the Earth. Then we see a similar escape pod sequence with Jake Gyllenhaal just like in 'Gravity' with Sandra Bullock. So this movie seems to be well made, but it consists of three different movies I have already seen, so I don't think I will love it as much as somebody else will, who is not familiar with this plot. So that is my only concern, but I still hope, that it will be original and entertaining

Super Bowl TV spots (Pirates of the Caribbean; Baywatch; The Fate of the Furious; Ghost in the Shell, John Wick:Chapter 2).

During the Super Bowl there are always a lot of little TV spots, making us, movie fans and usual movie goers excited about those movies. As it is a tradition, now we get a lot of great ones in one day, it is hard to catch everything what is coming out.

The firs one which I saw was a TV spot for 'Guardians of the Galaxy' and I think, that it is the best TV spot ever. It was brilliant.

The second one I checked out was for 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man Tell No Tales'. Now, everyone think, that all you need to make a fantastic trailer is to put Johnny Cash song in it and cut it well. And it is true, the trailer is awesome. And I bought it. I thought it was fantastic and epic in a way, so there is a room for excitement. For many people it is a Transformers situation, when trailers are great, but movies - not so much, but I am confident enough, that this Pirates of the Caribbean will be a solid film. I just that guy, who grew up on these movies, in 2000's and that was my childhood, so if you dislike this franchise, then think of it as my guilty pleasure. The forth one was not so good though.

The movie I am not very much into is Baywatch. It comes in May, and it is a reboot of the known thing, so I am not surprised, that somebody is really waiting for it. Of cause it has Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in it, and Zac Efron fits his role, but all the commercials were sloppy, trailers and jokes - cliched. So even this TV spot didn't entertain me. I will watch it of cause, just for Dwayne Johnson, but trailers still were just OK to bring more people to the theaters.

Super Bowl commercial for John Wick was nice, the movie is already shown to the critics, and gets reviews just as good as the first chapter had, so on this TV spot we saw just the same thing, as we saw in the trailers. And I loved how they played on the Valentines Day, just like Deadpool did last year. I think the marketing campaign fro this movie doesn't give anything away, releasing the same shots from the previous trailers, and not revealing too much, considering that it revealed already enough. I am still very excited about this movie, I will be the first who will watch it.

The Fate of the Furious TV spot was insane, just like the first trailer. It showed exactly the same storyline, as the full trailer, and it still pointing on Dom going rogue. I don't know how they are going to explain this, but I am afraid that they are just out of good ideas, and now they are pulling some bad script of just to make money. By the way, the cast of this movie is incredible: Charlize Theron, Kurt Russel, Jason Statham and the original cast. But the title is just too bad, it is cheesy.

Ghost in the Shell TV spot. From what we see from this movie - it is going to be ridiculously weird, but is it going to be bad or good weird movie. It definitely going to be so different from what we already seen, and it seems like this movie will be very successful at the box office, so I wouldn't count it off, even if you think, that this is very strange thing, that is going on in that movie. It has Scarlett Johansson in it - it will make a lot of money, and it comes out in March as well, so it makes this year's March one of the most rich month, just like the last year.

Overall, I think this portion of TV spots/trailers was great, everything was pretty awesome.

'Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2' Super Bowl TV spot nails it.

During a big evening, a lot of trailers drop and they are extremely expensive, so we see some outstanding little videos, like new TV spot for "Guardians of the Galaxy vol.2". This spot has such a fantastic feel, it shows a lot of the stuff, we saw before, but it still introduces the audience to new characters and reminds some people, who is not familiar with Guardians of the Galaxy, the specific details about known heroes.

Great atmosphere created by the clip reminds how cool and amazing first 'Guardians of the Galaxy' was. I am so excited, I think, that this is the best TV spot I have ever seen, it is that good and well made. It is hilarious. Welcome to the Freaking Guardians of the Galaxy!

New X-men film "Supernova" is rumored to start its production in June.

It is rumored, that a new X-men movie is going to be 'X-men: Supernova' and it is going into production in June. Reported by My Entertainment World. And it already has a synopsis:
Gathered together by Professor Charles Xavier to protect a world that fears and hates them, the X-Men had fought many battles, been on adventures that spanned galaxies, grappled enemies of limitless might, but none of this could prepare them for the most shocking struggle they would ever face. One of their own members, Jean Grey, has gained power beyond all comprehension, and that power has corrupted her absolutely! Now they must decide if the life of the woman they cherish is worth the existence of the entire universe!
It is very hard to tell, if it is really going to be the next movie in the X-men franchise. After a divisive 'X-men: Apocalypse', no one can predict how Fox will decide to proceed with their property. It is obviously going to be more expensive to sigh James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender again, so I think that this movie definitely doesn't even has a script, of cause if they haven's already sighed James McAvoy to return as Professor X. It would be a proper continuation for Apocalypse, but I think money wise, this project is going to be delayed multiple times.

One thing about X-men universe we know for sure - Deadpool 2 is happening no matter what. Who knew even a year ago, that this little Deadpool movie, supported by profits from X-men film franchise, now will support it vice versa, so Fox would keep making the main X-men storyline movies. I wrote it before and I will write it again: Fox owes Ryan Reynolds a lot for making Deadpool and saving X-men franchise (as it appeared to be).

Returning to 'X-men: Supernova', the story will focus on Dark Phoenix storyline, as they already cast and introduced new Jean Grey (Sophie Turner). On paper this movie seems like a great idea, but after what happened with Apocalypse, its bad reception by critics and a big part of the audience, this movie seems like not gonna happen in the next four or even five years. I want to be wrong, I would love to watch a new X-men movie right now, but it just doesn't seem realistic enough to say, that I believe, that 'X-men: Supernova' is starting production in June.

Second 'Logan' (2017) Super Bowl TV spot "You Know the Drill"

Yesterday on the big evening there were two great 'Logan' TV spots, including this, one minute clip, cut from the movie. It is definitely the first time we saw a fragment from 'Logan'. We pretty much know everything about the tone and the atmosphere of the film, but now we can see by ourselves, how it is actually going to look like in the movie. Such a great clip. I noticed a western feel to it, Hell or High Water (2016) in particular. If the movie is going to be as good as this fragment, then it is great.

I have a strong belief that Logan will be a masterpiece, you can't be sure all the time, but it was shown on Berlin film festival, and no garbage is shown on film festivals, obviously. And another one thing, that makes me confident is that Fox allowed it to be shown on Berlin film festival, so they are confident in the quality of their movie, and it is not that situation, when the studio doesn't even show the movie to critics on the press screenings to hide the fact, that their movie is bad, so the film wouldn't suffer financially.

Weekend Box-Office Report (Week 02/03- 05/02 2017)

According to Box Office Mojo Split goes absolutely great, wining it's third weekend in a row, this time over "Rings", which debuted on the second spot. This new M. Night Shyamalan movie beats every expectation and becomes the most unexpected hit of the year. With the budget of 9 million it already cracked almost a hundred in the domestic box office and leading towards 150 million worldwide. It is definitely the last time when we see Split on the first spot, due to 'LEGO Batman' and 'John Wick' coming out on February 10th. 'Rings' did well, it cost $ 25 M. to make and made $ 13M. on it's opening weekend, finishing on the second spot after 'Split'. On the third place is 'A Dog's Purpose' with $ 10,8M, taking strongly Sunday's first spot. This movie is doing pretty well. It cost $ 22M and already grossed $ 42,5 worldwide. Then on the fourth place it is Hidden Figures with $ 10,1M. This movie is an another surprise hit, already made $ 120M domestically and $ 122M worldwide, it is a huge success, considering that it cost only $ 25M to make. And the last fifth spot is taken by La La Land with $ 7,5M. The Oscar buzz is not decreasing and the main contender for the main award is still very strong at the box office.
1. Split (Universal) - $ 14,6 M ($ 98,8M domestic total; $ 142,8M worldwide total)

2. Rings (Paramount) - $ 13M ($ 13M domestic total; $ 28,2M worldwide total)

3. A Dog's Purpose (Universal) - $ 10,8M ($ 33M domestic total; $ 42,5M worldwide total)

4. Hidden Figures (Fox) - $ 10,1M ($ 120M domestic total; $ 122M worldwide total)

5. La La Land (Lionsgate/Summit)  - $ 7,5M ($ 118,3M domestic total; $ 268,3M worldwide total)

"Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" didn't do well for it's second weekend and grossed only $ 4,5M, but overall it had a solid opening weekend, which brought $ 13,6M. Now it is on almost $ 22M domestically and nice $ 117,5 worldwide total with the budget of $ 40M.

Another movie that had some of my attention was "The Comedian" with Robert De Niro, but it didn't do well ($ 1,1M) just like another opening weekend result for 'Space Between Us'. Teenage action & adventure drama just made $ 3,8M and cost $ 30M to make, so, overall, already clear, that it is a big flop.

Split (2017) movie review. M. Night Shyamalan's redemption.

Movie Split, directed by M. Night Shyamalan and starring James McAvoy and  Anya Taylor-Joy. The story is about three girls, who were kidnapped by a psychopath, who has 23 personalities inside him, containing 9 year old boy, woman and a usual, seemed to be normal, guy. Imprisoned, girls try to convince one of the multiple selves of James McAvoy's character to let them go.

From the beginning, the film seems like a good thriller, with a good mystery and frightening atmosphere, and the script is really good, trying to involve the audience into director's thoughts, the way of explaining, what he was trying to tell. And it was magnificent, I am absolutely serious. I was so invested and interested, I was thinking of that twist, everyone buzzing about, for the whole movie, and it was very smart, and I am not talking about it anymore in this review, not to ruin anything for anyone.

James McAvoy's performance was one of the best he did in his career. I loved his approach with portraying all his different characters, and of cause, the movie, after all, is more about him, then these girls, who tries to escape. I had such a good time, speculating, pondering about little clues, M. Night Shyamalan was giving for an entire movie.

There were things that I didn't like, but overall, this movie is very well made, much more superior, than most of the thrillers nowadays. It has a little forgotten feeling, that during scary movie, you can be interested in thinking, rather than sitting and watching something, that just tries to scare any way possible and takes you for a fool.

The LEGO Batman Movie VIRAL VIDEO - Gotham Cribs (2017)

New LEGO Batman video released, featuring The Batman, showing his Bat cave, some behind the scenes stuff.  Everything about this new LEGO movie excites me to watch it. I think this marketing campaign was awesome: the tone they used, including the music choices and making fun of everything related and iconic for Batman. Overall what they have been doing with this movie is so fun and original, making it a jewel of this February.

I hope that this little, so called, behind the scenes are just marketing tools and non of this footage will be used in the movie, which already has critic ratings on rotten tomatoes at 91 percent.

It is definitely a kids movie, but it really attracts my attention, because I just love fun and well made films, weather it is an animated or a live action. And this one sticks out for me as an exceptional idea - making fun of Batman - one of the most serious superheroes. There is nothing wrong with this, Batman will always be an iconic character with this kind of vibe of a scary vigilante, who saves his city, but only in more serious films.

The LEGO Batman movie will hit theaters on February 10th.

Life (2017) Super Bowl TV spot released

Life starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Ryan Reynolds and Rebecca Ferguson now has one trailer and ready to launch TV spot for the Super Bowl. The movie, which will come out on March 24th, will tell the story about an international space crew, which discovers life on Mars.
Here is the synopsis:
Six astronauts aboard the space station study a sample collected from Mars that could provide evidence for extraterrestrial life on the Red Planet. The crew determines that the sample contains a large, single-celled organism - the first example of life beyond Earth. But..things aren't always what they seem. As the crew begins to conduct research, and their methods end up having unintended consequences, the life form proves more intelligent than anyone ever expected.
Life already has one official trailer, which came out three month ago, and it intrigued a lot of people, teasing a similar plot to the Alien (1979), about finding life beyond Earth. It also showed a nice concept of determining humans as species, so maybe that will have something to do with this particular story. Having such a fantastic cast of extremely talented people adds even more anticipation. The only concern I have, is that if it will be too similar to the Alien. Whatever they found out there in space will try to destroy them, and as you know it is pretty much what the Alien (1979) was all about.
A new trailer will arrive in 24 hours, as the official site teases, so we will see more details on what this movie is about.

The TV spot for the Super Bowl shows even more similarities with the Alien, so it might be a premise of Gravity (2013) and the classic Alien (1979) in one movie, as we can see a lot of space operations and action.

James Cameron has finished scripts for all new four Avatar sequels. And his thoughts on future of the Terminator.

Legendary writer and director James Cameron already finished four new Avatar scripts, and ready to start shooting in August.
He was asked about his focus on Avatar 2, and here is his reply:
"The thing is, my focus isn’t on Avatar 2. My focus is on Avatar 2, 3, 4, and 5 equally. That’s exactly how I’m approaching it. They’ve all been developed equally. I’ve just finished the script to Avatar 5. I’m now starting the process of active prep. I’ll be working with the actors in the capture volume in August, so I’m booked in production every day between now and then. Our volume is up and running, and everything is designed, and so we’re going full-guns right now. I feel like I’ve been let out of jail, because I’ve been in the writing cave for the last two years. I’m actually enjoying life. I don’t enjoy writing. I wouldn’t wish writing on a dog."
I love his comment on his way of working, and I think that he is a revolutionary filmmaker. The thing with Avatar is that it will never make as much money, as it did in 2009 and 2010. Only, if Cameron will market the hell out of this new sequel. Actually, his movies are always such a huge event, so I wouldn't be surprised, if it will beat some movies in Top 10 of the most grossing films of all time.

Cameron also talked about future of the Terminator franchise: if it was hijacked, and if it is relevant to make another one nowadays:
It hasn’t been hijacked. It’s really just stumbled along, trying to find its voice again. There’s probably some degree to where it’s lost relevance, you know? Maybe the things that made it good back then are kind of a yawn now. It’s easy to remember fondly the things that kick off a franchise. It’s hard to keep a franchise vigorous, and relevant. I haven’t had my hand on the tiller since Terminator 2, and that was 1991. So what’s that? Twenty-six years? But look, I think it’s possible to tell a great Terminator story now, and it’s relevant. We live in a digital age, and Terminator ultimately, if you can slow it down, is about our relationship with our own technology, and how our technology can reflect back to us—and in the movie, literally, in a human form that is a nemesis and a threat. But also in those movies, in the two that I did, it’s about how we dehumanize ourselves. In a time when people are being absorbed by their virtual-social world, I mean, just look around. I always say: if Terminator was about the war between the humans and the machines, look around any restaurant or airport lounge and tell me the machines haven’t won when every human you see is enslaved to their device. So could you make a relevant Terminator film now? Absolutely.
Great comments. Correct as always, but I am afraid, that Cameron will be too busy to take over and direct a new one, as soon as the rights will be returned to him.

New Logan 2017 TV spots.

Brand new TV spots for Logan, which hits theaters in a month, have dropped on YouTube. These are well made TV spots, giving a little bit more depth for the story, and making you even more excited for the movie, so after watching, there is more room for anticipation for this movie.
As for me, I love everything Fox does with their marketing campaign for Logan. It reminds me of Deadpool's campaign, when everyone said, that it was the best that year. They definitely marketed it right.

Super Bowl Transformers TV spot is much hotter than the previous trailer.

Recently a new TV spot, which will be shown during a huge cultural event of Super Bowl has dropped. It is the best way to promote a movie, so a lot of money spent to show those little TV spots, and marketing departments are really concerned that those little videos to be great.

The last Transformers trailer wasn't great. It was disappointing for many people, who always loved Transformers trailers. And as for right now, the fifth part called "The Last Knight" (O boy, I hope that this title is just a coincidence) is not doing great, because everyone is aware that the quality of those movies is terrible and everyone knows what they get going on a movie like that. Plus the first trailer wasn't good enough to fool people again and convince them that this one is a turning point. I am glad that transformers franchise must make a real step forward in quality in order to keep the audience from floating away and keep them coming back on those dump popcorn action flicks with a budget of small country's GDP.

So, that TV spot, that just dropped. It had much more depth, then the trailer for me. I felt a well build story through this little video. It just made me feel better then the trailer after watching it. And I am one of those people who never liked transformers trailers that much, so they never made me convinced to go to the movie theater on these movies.

There is another story I read today, about Michael Bay talking on directing and keep coming back to this franchise. He explained it as he always does, that he just loves to do it and this kind of stuff. But, he also told, that a whole team of brilliant writers worked on the script this time, and that they had plenty of time, and worked together in order to connect all previous movies and bring depth to the mythology to the Transformers franchise. Also Bay confirmed, that he is done with Transformers, this time for real, and made a pretty interesting statement:
'It’s bittersweet for me. With every Transformers film, I’ve said it would be my last. I see the 120 million fans around the world who see these movies, the huge theme park lines to the ride and the amazing Make- A-Wish kids who visit my sets, and it somehow keeps drawing me back. I love doing these movies. This film was especially fun to shoot. But, this time might really be it. So I’m blowing this one out. There comes a moment in everyone’s life when we are called upon to make a difference.
In Transformers: The Last Knight, the hunted will become heroes. Heroes will become villains. Only one world will survive: theirs, or ours.'
To be fair, Bay always did his best to bring good action, but it never worked as a good movie for me.
If this movie suck, that will mean, that literally nothing can help this franchise to be good, and it always will stay this cheesy stupid thing it is now, until it will be rebooted into something brand new.
